Un Corazón Flamenco Performance Company
Un Corazón Flamenco is Linda Machado and Ricardo de Cristóbal, professional Flamenco artists and instructors. Our Flamenco style is improvisational with a traditional foundation. Our Flamenco performances can range in size from solo Flamenco guitar to an entire theatrical production. When appropriate, we utilize guest artists that share our passion for traditional and exciting Flamenco. We are experienced and well versed in Flamenco’s Palos (families of song and dance) and their connections, depth and intensity. As performers we rehearse, arrange, choreograph and develop set lists only if required by performing students or guest artists, and avoid breaking dances down and rehearsing bits and pieces. We create living Flamenco every time we dance.
Un Corazón Flamenco is well versed in Flamenco mysteries, depth and intensity, and its Spanish, Gypsy and North African connections. We create living, passionate Flamenco, different every time. Our love for and immersion in Flamenco history and culture fuels our passion for this living art of dance, poetry, and music. Flamenco as a traditional and poetic art requires improvisation. Of course rehearsals, choreographies and arrangements are indispensable communication and learning tools. If a performance includes many artists on stage, choreographies, set lists and plans are required. However, Flamenco is what happens when people just start playing, dancing and singing with only a basic idea of what they are going to do, and allow this intense and great art to develop on its own. Linda and Ricardo are also the founders of Flamenco! …the Studio Arizona's premier all-Flamenco-arts learning center. Both artists bring years of experience and dedication to the art of Flamenco. Ricardo and Linda are the only Flamenco artists in Arizona recognized by the Arizona Commission on the Arts to teach Flamenco in both educational and community setting. Additionally Ricardo is Arizona's leading Flamenco historian. Many of our students, even beginners, have opportunities to dance and perform with other artists, and even perform in company presentations, enabling them to experience the connection and communication of live Flamenco right from the beginning. |
Linda and Ricardo are the only Flamenco artists in the State of Arizona approved by the Arizona Commission on the Arts* to teach and present Flamenco in both the Community and Educational tracks. Additionally, Linda holds a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
